78% of registered enterprises are in services while 22% are in manufacturing. Only 3% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. Only 46% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12). Only 17% of ITI trainers are certified.
In Saiha, which ranks 11 of 11 in Mizoram for youth opportunity, the overall opportunity score is 52.7 out of 100. The district runs ahead of the national picture on value added per enterprise worker at ₹2,25,182, while it lags on employment in small and medium enterprises at 2.9%.
