74% of registered enterprises are in services while 26% are in manufacturing. Only 4% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. 68% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12). Only 27% of ITI trainers are certified.
In Dindigul, which ranks 33 of 38 in Tamil Nadu for youth opportunity, the overall opportunity score is 47.5 out of 100. It trails the national picture on ITI seats in government institutes at 47.7%. On skilling trainees who get certified at 98.1%, it sits close to the national mark.
